In the 1970s graffiti tradition began in NYC. It gained so much attention from critics and fans alike that it became cemented in the cultural and physical history of the city. Water towers, similarly, are an iconic part of the architectural landscape in New York. They have been profiled by everyone from the New York Times to the Museum of Modern Art.
